DESIGN AND OUTCOME
Prototyped a MVP for the first version
The prototype became the primary artifact used during a live trade show to support sales conversations and early fundraising discussions. It reduced confusion during demos, improved product storytelling, and gave non-design stakeholders a clear, interactive way to communicate Sunrun’s value.

POST PROJECT
RESULTS
Combining all the implementation and design we delivered, we managed to:
Improved clarity and consistency across key responsive flows
Reduced friction during live demos and stakeholder walkthrough
Supported increased engagement during a trade show, contributing to a ~17% lift in waitlist sign-ups
Helped guide internal teams toward clearer design direction for future iterations
WHAT I LEARN
Not every element needs to look identical across breakpoints—prioritize clarity and function over visual consistency.
Speaking up about hidden interests opens doors. Sharing my passion for prototyping led to a valuable new opportunity.
Strong guides and systems save time. Clear frameworks accelerate better decisions and execution.

OVERVIEW
Zollar was an early-stage financial coaching SaaS preparing for an angel round. With limited runway and an incomplete product, the team needed to prove the coach experience could drive engagement and reduce drop-off.
I led product design to simplify coach navigation, validate the Budget Playground within real workflows, and reduce onboarding friction—supporting waitlist growth and boosting investor confidence.

RESEARCH
RESEARCH
I interviewed founders, stakeholders, and 13 financial coach, then ran the app end-to-end myself. Findings revealed misalignment in page structure, unclear coach workflows, and UX copy that didn’t support coaching tasks.

A. Simplified Architecture:
I consolidated overlapping features into fewer, goal-driven pages to reduce cognitive load and clarify the coach experience.
B. Budget Playground Repositioning:
After testing three variations, I embedded the Budget Playground directly into the coach workflow, rather than isolating it, reducing friction and improving discoverability.

FEATURES TEST
FEATURES TEST
After analyzing internal data and user insights, I identified over-segmented features that were increasing complexity. I consolidated related functionality into fewer pages to simplify navigation and reduce cognitive load. I designed and tested three iterations of the Budget Playground, with the final version reducing bounce rates from 35% to 11%.

DESIGN OUTCOMES

DESIGN OUTCOMES
I designed the MVP as a functional product experiment. While delivered as a prototype, it was used to validate onboarding strategy, assess trust-related risk, and inform future roadmap decisions.
Early validation revealed the problem was a lower priority than initially assumed, so the product did not move forward to build. The work successfully reduced product risk by surfacing key trust and onboarding issues early, enabling the team to reallocate resources with clarity and confidence.

Interviews and user pool synthesis
I interviewed Zollar’s founders to align on vision and priorities using a Figma alignment exercise, surfacing gaps in coach pages, app flow, and feature focus. I then interviewed coaches to understand their workflows, uncovering early drop-off driven by fragmented flows and unclear copy.
A second round of interviews validated these findings and guided navigation and feature restructuring.

Feedback from Audience
Feedback from Audience
User feedback was mixed. While some features resonated, the majority of new engagement came from coaches, creating a mismatch with client onboarding expectations.
Despite this, the coach waitlist grew 10×, from 200 → 2,000 users, validating design decisions and reducing early product risk.

Running the app myself
Ran the app myself to fully understand the coach experience. The UI was underwhelming, key workflow pages were missing, and navigation was confusing.
Key Objectives:
1. Define clear navigation and feature hierarchy
2. Lead UX for core features
3. Push back on scope to protect quality and delivery

Pages Identification
I consolidated over-segmented features to simplify the coach workflow. I designed and tested three iterations of the Budget Playground within the coach workflow. This reduced early bounce from 35% → 11% and clarified the path to the platform’s core value.
Key pages developed:
1. Scheduling
2. Events
3. Clients (Coach management view)
4. Budget Playground (embedded in coach workflow)

For the Budget Playground, I made the strategic decision to embed it within the clients pages rather than as a standalone page, reducing friction and improving flow. After testing with a small group of users, the simplified flow changes reduced bounce rate from 35% → 11% and clarified the path to the product’s key value.

After refining key pages and the Budget Playground, I built a full MVP prototype. This prototype was shared with coaches from the waitlist and a select group of financial firms to observe real-world workflow interactions and gather actionable feedback.
